Today, on Thursday, the tribal community organized a procession that made its way to Dharmatala in Kolkata, commencing its march from Howrah station. The primary demands put forth by the tribal community include the immediate implementation of a tribal religious code, the abolition of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the exclusion of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) as a criterion for recruiting Saotali medium teachers, the institution of a special drive, and the cessation of oppression against tribals in various regions, including Manipur.
This day witnessed a massive traffic gridlock not only at Howrah station but also at the Howrah bus stand and the vicinity of Howrah Bridge, all due to the tribal procession in support of these demands.
